Link Equity
The ranking authority that is passed from one page to another through hyperlinks, also known as link juice.
Understanding Link Equity
Link equity (commonly called "link juice") refers to the ranking value that is passed from one page to another through hyperlinks. When a page links to another page, it passes a portion of its authority. The amount of link equity passed depends on several factors: the authority of the linking page, the number of outbound links on the page (equity is divided among all links), the relevance of the linking page to the destination page, and whether the link is dofollow or nofollow. Internal links also pass link equity, which is why strategic internal linking — directing equity from high-authority pages to important target pages — is a fundamental SEO practice.
